What Does Kindness Mean To You?

Understanding the principle of empathy and appreciating the ripple effects our small gestures and nice words can have on those that surround us. Kindness is universal, and an attitude that motivates us to look for opportunities to show others your human side in such a fast pace world.

A Kind Thing Someone Did For You

When I was in grade seven my English teacher Mr. Mac devoted time after class to further help me with my poetry. He would edit and read my latest entries while providing me helpful criticism and motivating me to continue at it. He took one of my poems and submitted it to a contest, and in turn, it was published in a local Poetry book. His kindness and care for me has encouraged me to write to this day and I am forever grateful.

What Does Kindness Mean To You?

Kindness is about making a conscious decision to be a giver and then acting on that decision. Kindness comes from the heart and is expressed externally making you one with the world.

A Kind Thing Someone Did For You

I had a serious accident 7 years ago and volunteer paramedics came to the scene. Besides setting my hand in a splint they also found out that I was meant to be home cooking for a dinner party. They offered to drive pre-made food to my house and they gave me a taxi chit so I could get home from the hospital to my guests. They saw that kindness cannot be limited to a splint – that the whole person needs to be taken care of.

Good on you! It was a great initiative and the event worked marvelous. Councillors reminded each other of the Human Kindness Project each time it got a little heated this week during our Council meeting. Congrats on a wonderful event and idea...and yes, lets do more of it!
